[#1078471]

I have a ribble ribelle and want to put mudguards on it in this naff weather.

I fancy the raceguard as it's nice and subtle but which guard is better?

I want to order this mornings so quick replies would be great!

Thanks

Andy

Karnali - No, not yet I've got a new 105 double on my bike at the moment. I'd prefer a compact but in no rush.

Favouring the crud racer guards I have to say. wiggle here I come.

race blades do half the job and rattle like mad against your forks and stays.

I would give the crud raceguards a go

I set mine up on wednesday night and got knocked off my bike on thursday morning and they are now shattered in bits all over the saintfield road in belfast, but they worked well for that 1 hour commute!

FFS. I didn't mean raceblades. I've ordered the crud racer.

You ordered the ones absolutely no one recommended?!

I fitted the Raceguards the other day, they're good, but I find they do rub against the rim a fair bit with the little pad things, no among of jiggery-pokery can seem to get the stays a sensible distance from the rim!

You can secure the Raceblades to the bolt that holds your brakes by drilling a small hole and using a cable tie like the way the Crudguards attach, and that makes them absolutely solid.
The Raceblades aren't as long as the Crudguards, but by the time the Crudguard extension pieces fall off they end up the same length.

I have both - the only reason to buy race blades is if the raceguard doesn't fit.

Apologies, your previous post wasn't there when I wrote mine.

Yep, Cruds are ace. Still not as good as full SKS, though, but better than the RAceblades.

I like my cruds but the front bottom fell off on my first ride, my finger tight obviously isn't crud tight. I can't find anywhere that sells replacement parts and I'm buggered if I'm going to spend the best part of 30 quid to replace five inches of plastic.

I just got some of the crud ones off a chap on here. They do look really good and its great to have a dry arse for a change. But, yes the pads rub permanently. Can't quite understand why they didn't make the bracket on the guard (that joins it to the removable stays) a bit wider. Can anyone explain?

thought they were supposed to rub the rim, so it's always centred, and you never rub the tyre?

Hi,

Do you mean the Crud Roadracer Mudguard Set on wiggle? I've got the same quandary.

Cheers
Andy

My next roadbike is absolutely, definitely going to be able to run 28mm tyres with full mud-guards as well as being awesome in every conceivable way.

Yes, according to the website, they then find their own centre. Mine definitely centred themselves but I can't help thinking a few mm on either side and the clearance would be better.

Both are a bit naff, but the Cruds if fitted in the proper manner do a better job. If you've got the patience you could fit the origial SKS Chromoplastic guards, mate of mine has, just involved a bit of 'bespoking' so to speak!

Ciao
