[#1342613]

A mate and I did this yesterday - skiddaw house loop in the morning, chips for lunch in keswick, borrowdale bash in the afternoon (admittedly missing off the Honnister pass part - we did Rosthwaite to Grange on the road due to daylight constraints).

A great ride, and cheers to the bloke who helped us out with route advice...

yeah it's a great descent, first time I've done the route - lots of "oh sh*t" moments!

Missed out the Honister descent? I'd do loops of that on its own!

cheers Simon as well for the route links - very handy. glad folk like the pics. the jacket is my mate's it's a karrimor number but dunno more than that - he might be lurking on here though so if so veevers log in for once and share the info!...

as for the Honnister descent, it's one for another day; our start/finish point was ravenstone lodge up near Braithwaite, so once we hit Rosthwaite there was still a fair way to go and not much daylight (or energy!) left. We'll get it done though.

cheers,
Dave

"admittedly missing off the Honnister pass part - we did Rosthwaite to Grange on the road"
I reckon thats the other good bit of the loop. Some nice techy bits to try along there
The sfb/bogtrotters fp option alongside the road upto watenllath is pretty good too, a bit slow going but nicely testing if you have the time

Watendlath to Rosthwaite is one of the best bits of trail in the Lakes IMHO, fantastic descent.
Can't believe people would rather drive all the way to Glentress or do laps of the North Face Trail rather than just doing as the OP did, ask at a local bike shop and enjoy some of the best trails in the UK!

There's some sketchy downhills on the borrowdale bash. Great fun! The road section up the pass is a hard one.

I like the Skiddaw house loop. Nice downhill round the back of Skiddaw, but a bitch of a climb up lattrigg.

Why go that way?
