Hi

I'm pretty sure its OK but am I right in thinking that a GS short cage M773 Shadow mech
will be fine with a 36t chainring & 11-36t cassette, or am I better going for a long cage?

Its going on a hardtail btw

GS cage is really a medium size and ideal for a single or double chainset.

Shimano Technical documents give exact detail but I think the GS covers approx 35 teeth range and you propose only 25.

All mountain mechs cover a 36T sprocket.
