[#2046048]

Just looking at the hard route that was featured in the mag back in 2007.. I think. One of the descents is actually highlighted on the route map as the footpath down from Pole Cott into little Stretton. is this an 'official' cheeky line I've been missing out on or is this a printing error? I'm surprised that the bastion of honest and just journalism that is Singletrack Magazine would publish a cheeky trail on a route map! Love the Long Mynd but have always stuck to the Bridleways/byways, but suspect I might be missing out!

The path from Pole Cott to Little Stretton has been upgraded to a BW for Ride UK horse trails.

One of my faves

I think it's a permissive bridleway. Certainly a cracking (fast!) descent.

Worth noting - it goes down to the campsite and at the end of the day, it's quite busy with big groups of DofE types heading down who aren't really aware of the group of bikes approaching from the rear at 35mph+.

The Pole Cott descent is frighteningly fast on a tandem when racing another member of this forum. ๐Ÿ˜†

S-J (or anyone else for that matter ... please...)
This looks a fab decent and I can see it on the map, but what about the rest of the route ?. Is there a link to it anywhere, or a brief list of some of the key marker points ?.

Can't believe i've missed this after all the times I've ridden there!

Jiff, I've got a scan of the route map I can email you... Good route and hard work. Only downside is that Minton batch is pretty cut up and abused these days.

Supersessions, where's the yapsel bank descent?

I used to ride the Mynd quite a bit, but i got stuck in the routine of riding Minton Batch and the Pole Cott to Little Stretton descent every time i went, for fear of not finding anything as good elsewhere in the area. Apparently there is some great singletrack in the wooded area (Knolls?) at the West end of the Mynd.

Also, does anyone know much about the riding on Hope Bowdler or Stiperstones? Worth a detour?

There are some half decent trails in the woods, but I was shown them and would struggle to find them again.
As you climb the fire road to the glider club, keep an eye out, as there are entrances that head back down to the same fireroad that are quite interesting

This is the route I took the other week.

It takes in Minton Batch, Little stretton Descents, but also Pole Bank to Medlicott and Pole Bank to Stanbatch... crackers too.

Let me know if you need the MMO.
