[#922432]

hi,

this is for a trials/ jump bike. I have an FSA 44tooth DH ring, and an on one 16tooth sprocket on the back. I could put on a 9spd SRAM chain, and be done with it.

but i'd prefer to do it properly, so can anyone recommend any SS chains. Do you know what sizing i'd need? I've seen various sizes on CRC (1/8, etc).

Thanks,
Rich

I use a KMC Z610HX which is a single-speed specific 3/32" chain.

BTW - 44/16 is a very high ratio? Are you sure that is going to work?

yes its a high ratio. I know it has to be lower, but until my wages come i can't afford to buy a new ring. This ring came with the cranks and BB, from CRC.

so what is the difference between a 1/8 and 3/32 chain?

(I could be wrong but this is what I understand)
1/8 and 3/32 refers to the thickness of the teeth on the chainwheel and/or sprocket, so if you have a 1/8 chainwheel, you'll need a 1/8 chain, but you can use 1/8 chain on 3/32 chainwheel/sprocket, or have 1/8 chainwheel, 3/32 sprocket and 1/8 chain.
1/8 chains (I think) were 'standard' on bikes such as 3 speed gear hubs, but multi speed rear blocks need narrower chains, hench 3/32. I'm not such why track stuff still use 1/8.
