I've just bought aCannondale BadBoy SS. Love the bike as it is such fun to ride but the rear wheel is bent beyond truing with spoke tension. I thought I'd go for rebuild but was quoted ( a no doubt reasonable) £72 using the current hub and rim.
Would I be able to get a completed rear wheel for not too much more? 700c/29er sized.
Advice appreciated and where do youlotbuy your SS bits from?

I think I pay 45 for wheel build supplying hub and rim (so spokes are supplied by shop).

I would have thought that if it could not be trued then a new rim might be on the cards.

Shop around? Second opinion?

I'd agree with that - if it can't be trued it shouldn't cost more than about £40-50 - that's if they're supplying spokes and you're supplying everything else. If it really can't be trued, then chances are the rim is bent and it needs a new one

Why you've happened upon an ideal chance to build your own wheel for the first time.
Seriously.
Have a go.
If its that bent I'd have a new rim to go on though.
Mavics TN317 is cheap & builds in to a decent wheel.
