Yes. We use them on the road bikes. Tube, multi tool, tyre levers fit fine. Expensive, but nice. Nicer than the Lezyne that went before
Yes. It’s ok. Does what it’s supposed to. Any more you want to know? No issues with the BOA attachment either.
a) Can I get a 29er MTB tube in it alongside multi tool and tyre repair kit box?
b) Is it secure without attaching to the seatpost (dropper)
c) Does it keep stuff dry if you get muddy without a mudguard?
I had one. Yes its secure, but I did have mine flip open once when I had it stuffed a little too full, didn't open up and was still attached by the boa. Not sure a 29er tube would fit all that well in the standard one. The material doesn't really lend itself to getting really wet and muddy.
I lost some confidence in mine after the flipping over incident and replaced it with an Apidura pack.
I have one, it's okay, not sure I'd buy another though. I secure a toe strap around mine and the saddle rails after I lost my previous saddlebag.
I wonder if it's worth buying a turbolito tube as a spare cos it rolls up a lot smaller?
That's what I did, not cheap for something I hopefully never use but the turbolito is a much better size and weight for a spare tube.
Went the tubilito route too … when I had a flat on weekend found it had worn through on the fold in several places … think the “narrow” edge is very prone to rubbing. Going back to butyl now as should last longer in a saddle bag.
I like mine for the road bike, since it’s so small.
As a result I’d not expect a 29r tube to fit all that well.
As for the boa attachment, it’s great. I’d have no problem trusting it so long as not overstuffed.
I had the Silca Asymetrico which was slightly bigger and supposedly more 'gravelwxxkxr'
Deffo won the prize for worst peice of kit bought last year. Couldn't get 38mm tube, hexus, patch kit and tiny penknife in it which is minimum I carry in saddlebag despite it being bigger in outside dimensions than the topeak it replaced that could carry that. Not that it mattered as it kept falling off. No matter how tight I cranked the boa it would rotate backwards and come loose. I even swapped out my saddle to see if it was that. Even on a road ride let alone gravel and it was history after 2km
Total garbage. Went back to merlin (who refunded without question).
i've had one on the road bike for years, probably the best seat pack i've ever used and i've got a cupboard full of them. secure and doesn't rattle
a) not really, a road tube and multi tool and tyre repair kit box? is about all it will manage
b) yes
c) no, it's water resistant rather than proof, i have my little box of patches, glue and chain links wrapped in a small plastic bag
if you can find the Silca Grande Americano Seat Roll it's a larger version that might fit your requirements
