Up walking the dog yesterday behind the David Marshall Lodge and as we walked up the fireroads we spied the start/ end of 4 bits of singletrack with signs advising walkers and horse riders to stay off as they were designed by and for mountain bikers only. None of the signs seemed to indicate if they were the start or finish but from what I could see they looked excellent.
I had a look in the visitor centre when I got back for a leaflet showing the trails and what way they should be ridden, and where they all were but there was nothing and I can't find anything on line.
Does anyone have any further info on them?
i generally ride down them then back up the forest road.
Not much to add other than I have ridden one of them and it was really nice. Pretty short but very good fun - reasonably steep in places.
I thought that was the case. They're appeared to be two different trails and I imagined it was a case of climbing the fire road then descending on whatever one you wanted but I wasn't sure in case one was actually an ascent!
I saw the start of two pretty near to each other - I descended down the right hand one. From the bottom you could turn right on the fire road and ride back up the hill, then take a right at the next fire road junction to get back where you started from and do the other (though I didn't have time to do this).
I think there are more than a couple though as I saw the ends of another one or two on another bit of the fire road at the bottom.
