After the Connex stainless one snapped on me again this morning whilst crossing a busy road....
Do I assume stainless steel is a rubbish material to make chains out of, and maybe try a Connex/Wipperman 908 (and give them the benefit of the doubt regarding quality) or dabble with KMC, maybe a X9 Light or something?
Anyone got a recommendation?

951 if cash is tight, 991 if you want the same thing but shiny.

stainless isnt as strong as normal steel no good for chains IMO.
KMC X9sl chains - best chains ever ever ever ever.
