Currently bike has Chili Works forks and they're seized up so badly that they're almost rigid. While this is fine for commuting, It's doing my spine no good at all when I go off road.

Does your collective wisdom know of a way I can fix this or should I just bite the bullet and replace the forks? The bike has the older threaded stem type of stem.

The bike was donated on a bet that I could rebuild it from a piece of junk into a respectable bike.

The fact its got:
a) some chilli works forks on it and
b) some seized chilli works forks on it

means I think you've probably lost your bet.
