Side to side play in gx axs jockey wheels - normal?

My 2000+ mile old gx axs derailleur is not shifting as nicely as it used to do and I need to have it on a micro adjust setting of 21 (always used to work on 16 - right in the middle) to make it work properly and even then its rasping a bit in certain gears.

The hanger is brand new so I've ruled out a bent hanger.

I did notice that the jockey wheels have quite a lot of side to side play, is this normal and could it be the cause of my issue ?

Anyone know of a good value source of axs jockey wheels?

No, you haven't ruled out a bent hanger.
You've just put a new one on, get it aligned properly.
(Most new bikes and frames have bent hangers from the factory)

+1 on the above. Until you put a hanger tool on it you can’t know it’s straight and literally no new bike I’ve ever checked has been straight. Mattered less on 9 speed, only a little on 10 but 11+ seems to matter.

It'll be nothing to do with a bent hanger.

Side to side play in the jockey wheels can ruin shifting easily. Either get new ones if they're like throwing stars, and if not, press the bearings out and then press new ones in

More than half a mil side to side I'd change the jockeys (or bearings but I've not personally had luck with getting new bearings pressed in square) BBB BDP-07 RollorBoys are current go to replacement jockeys.

Gx jockeys seem to wear badly and affect shifting IMHO

I know three lads who've had the upper jockey wheel of a sram mech fail in the last month, all three had the bearing and bolt still in the cage but plastic wheel had literally disintegrated, 1 normal GX, 1 AXS GX and 1 X01 mech. I'm just about to replace the wheels on an AXS GX mech on my ebike (with Hope alloy) before they get the chance to do the same

This is how sram jockey wheels wear. They do not do the shimano thing of wearing to tiny spikes.

Replace the jockey wheels, or if possible, the bearings.

Play is good, they usually bind at the pivots 🤦

Shimano 12spd have about 1mm total side to side play from new. That's the Deore/SLX, with bushings not bearings.

I though there was supposed to be float on the top jockey wheel?

ISTR the top jockey "float" is a Shimano patent.
