Just bought a second hand Sid fork. Unlike the one it’s replacing, it has a built in ‘lip’ at the bottom of the steerer tube.

If I install the crown race from the old fork, it all fits together with no play, but seems Visibly to sit too high with a small gap.

Any ideas?

My missus has a SID WC with a carbon steerer with the same lip. I think it's just the way they're made.

Crown race went on no bother and it's been fine. I know what you mean about it sitting a bit proud though.
