Hmmm, far from the lightest in this thread but given it's aluminium, a size large, has a full complement of gears, a suspension fork, and 2.25 tyres, I'm quite pleased with 23lb 13oz (10.8kg) and that's with some M520 pedals on too…

Feisty that niner is lovely 🙂 whats it like riding such a light bike though? My hardtail is about 25lbs and even that can feel a bit light/unsubstantial sometimes!

It is hard to say as I have been riding light SS bikes for the last 5 years ish, my 26er Scandal was 15.7 lbs so embarrassingly my current 19lb Niner feels a bit heavy 😆

I am only 10.5 stone with about 10-11% body fat so not much on me to lose so losing 7 lbs on my bike is actually a reasonable percent of my body weight.

I have also only just got back into bikes as have been riding mountain unicycles for the last year big old 36" ti one for XV and 24" for trials so my mind is a bit skewed as to what things should feel like.

Light wheels are great though you really notice those, they spin up effortlessly.

Hopefully by the end of the week I will have shed another 2.5 lbs off with the fork swap so will need to post more pics 🙂

Have to agree there, while my Velocite is a (in the context of the this thread) portly 10.8kg, the American Classic Race wheels at 1400 odd grams make a huuuuge difference. I could drop a couple of pounds for a lot of £££ through groupset, fork, bar and stem but I woudn't notice it much I don't think.

Ah fair enough, guess it's just what you're used to. My road bike is 19lbs! Coming from a bmx background I've always used heavier steel frames and sturdier feeling builds so it was quite a shock to recently switch to the alu chameleon frame and have a sub-30lb mtb for the first time ever!

Swaped the mary bars for carbon wisers, just weighed it 10.4kg not bad. Reckon it could be sub 10kg with different pedals and x1 set up.

All things being relative, this is light for my standards...EMD, Reba's and a bunch of X7. Cost about £800 to build from classifieds here, and a new set of wheels from 18bikes. I never weighed it, but it felt light and zipped along at speed (especially after I changed the velcro like WTB tyres).
Then some bandit stole it. 😡
