Thats all very well, but I'd love to see someone wheelie one.

I think your hopes of having a tandem to ride off road and road is a bit optimistic.
Anyone up for a Surrey tandem meet? I know there's an Ellsworth out there ('cos we've ridden with them)

Can I post that pic again? Can I ? Please?

[img] [/img]

As above - we have a cannondale MT 800 hardtail. 'zocchi Zi lites with reinforced steel steerer and additional preload ( but not enough air in that pic) Hope Big 'un hubs with ryno lite front rim and mavic 721 rear, Hope M4 front Ti 6 rear

The more you put a tandem into offroad trim the less useful it is on road - although we use ours for on / off road touring with a shorter fork and more road based tyres.

For DH type riding you probably want one of these

Cost - high! Ours is not far above an entry level machine and would be in the region of £3000 new in that spec.

That Nicolai is around £3000 just for the frame and shock.

My dream bike would probably be one of these frames but not that spec - hit the options list hard ( ti frame / S&S couplers etc) you can get towards £15000

might go and make one right now got lots of steel pipe and lots of steel working facilitys (ie. grandads steel workshop in barn)

would'nt having just two normal brakes put alot of strain on them? lugging two people about?

Nina - must do

Tom - so long as you have big rotors and decent brakes its fine Its not power thats the issue tho - its heat build up. Folk are looking into this - trying using motorcycle trials calipers on 300 mm discs or double disc front ends

Magura IIRC do a tandem specific brake and hope reccomend the moto brake with the ventilated disc
