[#1981371]

A few months back I swapped out my 853 Inbred frame for a new R853 Sirius. It's taken a while to get things set up just right but as part of the process, since I do most of my riding on road with the occassional off-road excursion, I decided to go back to a rigid fork. The thing is it's taking me a while to come to terms with the look of the thing. I'm sure it's just a case of it being different and waiting for it to grow on me but there is something about a sus. fork that makes a mountain bike look 'right'.

Anyway, show me your rigid hardtails, I've decided that mine needs a Thomson stem and flat bar to finish it off, but here it is ...

Temporary whilst my Pikes were in for a service. I really liked it for xc and that, but its really not suitable for what I mostly ride which is downhill/"freeride" with a bit of xc trail centre stuff. I want to get a new frame so I can put the suspension on that then run this rigid for dirt jumping/skatepark stuff.

Edit. The new flickr layout and this new computer have rendered me incapable of posting pictures.

Just out of curiosity, is there actually a need to describe a bike as a rigid hardtail? Doesn't the word rigid imply that there is no front or back suspension? So a bike is either rigid, a HT or a full suss? I assume there are no bikes that have suspension at the back and nothing on the front?

Built it up with old bits hanging around garage, and 2nd-hand forks off ebay. Too tight to buy an outer chainring so just put old bash-guard on instead.
Its not as light as most rigid HT. But who cares?

I'm using this most of the time now, waiting for some new tubes to be let into the regular hardtail!

Atomiser - is that a new Jones? Very nice!

Yes, bars a bit high but was experimenting with Rohloff shifter position. All sorted now - bars lower!

lipseal - 38:16 but it's a bit tall for me with 29er wheels. Not sure how low you can go with Rohloff.

Ahh - you can't have too many bikes Roger! ๐Ÿ˜€ What's the tubing 853?

Yeah, I'm good thanks, did a lot of riding leading up to the Big Dog, but slacked off since, planning on riding tomorrow, maybe even with the DD's at Stanmer if I get up in time - 50/50! Busted my Thorn frame, it's being repaired as they no longer make that model, hoping to get the Rohloff back in use by start of Autumn proper [fingers crossed].

How's things with you, and where are you riding of late, haven't seen you out on the trails?

And the protoype Mantra was designed with a rigid fork, but it was believed that it wouldn't sell. So Gary Klein agreed to fit a short travel fork ๐Ÿ™‚

This is mine, built up for commuting duties - hence the surprisingly effective reflective black tape/

Conspicuous lack of chain at the moment, scavenged temporarily for the SOs bike...

Does a Flexstem count as 'nothing'? . . . well, it did nothing ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sorry, only having a quick peek . . . I'll just wander back to the 'six inches for going to the shops' thread.
