ahh I though you were after new ones..
My first one, a 2000 MV, I loved it thoughly and broke it unfortunately..

Can't tell you much about the about the ride, as I broke it in 2004 , other than it worked great & sold me to full sussers, though a pro-pedal shock would have really 'made' it.
A bargain one of these came up the classified a while back, I was sorely tempted, don't pass these over if you see a bargain priced one.

This was my 3rd one, was the last of the one's your talking about (got in in early 2008 - 2007 model warrenty replacement).

I still have it but have snapped the rear subframe, now replaced with a nasty silver coloured one.

Nice light full sussers if you get the right models. The later quad link version will keep going upwards as long as you can hang on and pedal - it is a very good suspension design (others are available :P)
.
Marin have tended to use a design for 3/4 years and then change. So accordingly the later models tend to be the lighter ones and with more added features (gusseting) to make the frame last. As I've had 3 of the buggers and a m8 owns another 2(2002 single pivot with the hydro formed tubes & a 2003 quad link), I'm not exaggerating about the changes.
The 2004 quad link is a stinker weight wise, my 2007 version is featherweight in comparison, though the suspension design and frame shape are the same.

Buy one there great! I heartily recommend them as a light cross county bike, all you need for most xc riding in the UK, and the 'new' shaped versions (again I'm tempted) will have killed the price of the 'old' version.

Sorry.. you do know the frame is the same throughout the east peak/rift zone/mount vision/pro range? Only the colours schemes and shocks were different, frame wise.

Z1ppy- great answer- Thanks very much! The lighter year by year fact is a good thing to know. I was aware that they all use the same frame but am thinking about going for the Mount Vision due to the spec namely Hope brakes and hubs.
