Not super light weight at 24lbs, but it feels spot on weight wise.

RAGGATIP - Not a prototype, but it is one of the first two made. The frames were initially called Olympic rather than Skyline. Stuart at Pipedream said they changed the name as it was the Olympic year and there were concerns around trademark infringement etc. I think the 16" one is still available at a reduced price...

Pretty standard, upgraded brake levers to MT6 (warranty) as I was having problems with the standard MTS levers pulling to the bars. Not ridden the new brakes yet. She's pretty rapid over the entire journey, think my 26 XTC was faster downhill though. Think it was about 24lb on the shop scale.

There's something about Schmiken's Kingdom Supreme (second post in this thread) that's just so right. It looks a bit like the last Cotic Soda but with a tapered headtube.

Nothing on their website about the 650b version though. Anyone got any info on this one?

Thanks very much! It was actually a custom design job done after trying both the Supreme and the Double9, and then deciding to go for 650. It'll be available shortly (see their BikeBuilder), but if you're interested I'd email Chris direct (chris@kingdombike.com).

Actually I think my scales are broken, they must be reading to high if all the above are correct.

How do you figure? You're not gonna save 1.5lbs going 10 speed...

Dunno, it may not be far off - look like Roval carbon wheels, and a Cobalt 11 seatpost suggests there's some nice kit on it!

Take off the saddlepack, tyreweld, waterbottles and mud and it's 22 lbs dead.

2unfit2ride...why would a scott scale rc not weigh under 20lbs?. Carbon cranks full xo eggbeater 4ti pedals and hope pro 3 tubeless. but hey ho. Its light and i like it. I once had my ibis mojo sl down to 23.5lbs but didnt like how it rode.

Well mainly because my 18" triple butted Ti frame built up single speed with pace RC31's & detailing down to a Ti bottom bracket weighs very nearly 20lbs on my scales 🙁

The one I weighed was over 20lbs stock without pedals, forget what wheels it had though. DT240 on XC717 perhaps 😕

Yours doesn't seem too wide of the mark.

I did weigh my canyon, the scales do work and its 20.5lbs with pedals.

Its the bottom of the range Canyon carbon and i have put on another wheelset roval carbon rims with AM classic hubs with XX cassette, changed brakes to some old formula R1 ones i had and swapped the the bars to a ritchey 620mm superlogic 10 degree, Esi Grips and a Cobalt carbon seatpost and selle italia slr 145 saddle.

To lose 1.5lbs in the Autumn i am putting on new cranks instead of the X9, will save approx 250gms there. Lose the front shifter and front mech around 240gms, maybe if i can get rid of the fork matchmaker lockout about 50gms and the stock chain is heavy so that will be replaced when it wears in the next 3 - 4 months

Also change tyres, will save around 150 - 200 gms changing from current set up to specialised storm or Rocket rons if racing. That Rubena Kartos on the front tyre is far from light. Also nearly forgot i need to add the weight of a chain guide at about 50gms..

My XC race bike. Orange Evo2 from 2003 not a light frame but it has new XTR cranks and XT 9 speed mech controlled by 10 speed thumbies. Wheels are DTSWiss XR350 on A2Z hubs, they weight 1346g. It feels perfect.
[IMG] [/IMG]

9.24kg or 20.38lbs but more weight to loose when I change the M520 pedals and the seat. I'll stop when that is done.

I need to set up the levers and shifter, but she's ready to go....... Pedals to follow.
On two different scales its just a tad under 18 so 18.5 with pedals

My god, is a 18.5Lb FS seriously doable? How much did that cost on and on?

No idea of weight but now has a matching rear wheel which makes it heavier....

It's my only MTB and race machine having done both enduros as well as xc blasts.

On two different scales its just a tad under 18 so 18.5 with pedals

Hmmm, thats all i'm saying !!!!

[img] [/img]

Scalpel 1
- Lefty Speed carbon PBR
- Shimano XTR 10-speed
- Fox RP23 w/ Boost Valve
- Magura Marta SL Carbon brakes
- FSA SL-K 386 BB30 (42/27 tooth)
- Mavic CrossMax SLR wheels
- Fizik Tundra2 saddle and seatpost
- black and white
- 9.0kg (19.84lbs)

so over 20lb with pedals, even taking in your seatpost and tyre change we'll call it 20lb. Think you need new scales

23lbs dead for my cove hummer (minus the hipflask obviously), the talas forks weigh 1lb more than the frame

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Not mine below but thought i'd include them anyway as they're nice eye candy 😉

24.7 lbs for this Mojo Superlight wi XT and bog standard wheels, but we're building one for someone at the moment wi XTR and SLR's that i expect will come in at 22lbs or under.

[img] [/img]

Not quite XC race machine but it's perfectly capable to ride round any trail centre so it's in. This Hakkalugi came in at a smidgeon over 18lbs, very surprising as it feels so light and responsive when you're riding it. I want one........

[img] [/img]

Gareth Montgomeries Team GT Zasker 29'r - 21.8lbs or thereabouts if i remember correctly

[img] [/img]

I've saved the best for last though....11.72 lbs rigid nae-speed . Beat that if you can.

radoggair - Member

Quite a few changes between the two bikes.
Mostly detail. Also mine is a 1x10 using sram xx with a fair chunk saved with the new crank.
Formula r1 brakes with kcnc rotors and all bolts in Ti .
Ec90 bars - kcnc post SLR saddle and tyres are around 440 grams each - sram red cassette

As with all light builds its in the details so please don't be so quick to dismiss.
Mine started life as a 2011 scalpel 1 so can you not see where weight can be saved on the stock bike?

Happy for you to come over and weight it

I know - record for me 🙂
It's a 36 / 11-28. I ride a single speed with 32-14 gearing so thought I'd give this gearin a try.
Previously went with 34 /11-27 on a Merida 96 which was too easy to spin out on the flat but fine on the climbs.

But it's got comparatively heavy wheels. I'd believe 19lbs, but not 18. A friends Flash Ultimate with some lighter bits was 18lbs.

Bloody nice either way, except for the lack of gears. Proper cassette and it'd be great!

I tweaked my main ride this weekend. I built these wheels last [s]Summer Autumn[/s] Winter and hadnt got round to riding them yet. I wanted to have a go at putting together a really light tubeless set (1,770g). Ive hardly ridden this winter as the conditions round here have been unremittingly nasty, but now that Summer is here Im thought Id get the bike sorted. And for showing off at bespoked this weekend 🙂

This now comes in at 9.6Kg (a little over 21lbs). I could probably shave 100g from the BB and another 150g from the pedals if I really wanted to, but that would probably cost about £1 per gramme which I think would be going too far...so I dont think I can reasonably get this under the magic 20lb mark

(Oh and that chain weighs a bit, so perhaps another 100g off that)
