Oooooh, can't wait to join this one! I feel like such a kid again, building up a jump bike right now... I'm 32 but despite my lack of ability, its an itch that needed scratching once more!

Won't be anything special, got a cheap Fire Eye Bloodshot frame off CRC, will be 1x8 geared, Deore disc brakes (its not gonna be a proper full on DJ, more of a rag about HT), just deciding on forks (old school Zocchi's or newer Rockshox?), a stem, and the rims (are EX729's overkill do you reckon?).

Mines certainly not gonna be 24.4lb though when finished, even my Ti HT isn't that light!

Just finished this thanks to the CRC sale and shed emptying session....

Very nice Hummerlicious. The red and white looks great.

I'll have to come over to Worthing for a ride soon, whiteways is not much fun at the moment.

@mboy. I'd always go for beefy rims on a jump bike, as they tend to take a beating. I have 521's on mine.

Hellooooooo!

There you go . . .

Stripping it down as we speak though - it shares a build with my Blood and after this afternoon's very gloopy session in the local woods I have a yearning for gears again (mine's the newer model Sanchez without a mech hanger). It can spend a month or two on my kitchen wall until the trails dry out . . . wishful thinking mode

I like those Giant STPs. What is yours?

I had a go on a light build of a Santa Cruz Jackal and it was really nice to ride. I think an alloy frame and light bits is the way to go if you dont ride too hard.

This was heavy! [IMG] [/IMG]

And my bmx

[IMG] [/IMG]

Dont ride either of them anymore!

I've since sorted the obvious glaring issue. It now has a much shorter stem. Thinking about selling it too

I'm too old to be wanting to build a jump bike. I keep bidding low on ebay and hope I never win one...

This thread hasn't helped!

Tell me about it kudos, I rode whiteways at the weekend not only was it muddy hell, but the logging has destroyed it 🙁

To be fair it's no less muddy over here though!

Yeah, I run 521's on my trail bike, but thinking the 729's I have kicking about are probably a bit too beefy. Probably struggle to break them though!

DMR Drone (looking rid if anyone's interested?)

Have a 456 SS too, but it's a 20" frame and feels a bit tall for proper jumping.

FINALLY got my Fire Eye built up...

[img] [/img]

Time will tell what its like to ride, but feels nice in my brief up and down the street test. Bit tall at the front (130mm forks need reducing) right now, but will sort out later.
