Interestingly they all have a decent amount of clearance between the back tyre and seat tube - unlike 29er hardtails, my scandal barely clears it!

Erm........wouldn't that be so the suspension can compress without fouling the seat tube??

There's mine, on it's way to winning Set2Rise solo at the weekend:

Lots of twisty-twisty is where I made all the time, I got toasted by the other guys fighting for the lead on the big climb (look at the size of me) so it needed to be double quick in the woods! Luckily it was simply awesome.

Stupid boy! We all know that 29ers are slow and utter rubbish on anything other than fire roads or tarmac! Retract that statement immediately! What would you know?

😀

Yup, Santacruz Tallboy, provided by the nice guys at Leisure Lakes. A singletrack weapon beyond compare IMHO (and I rode a Superfly last year as reference!)

Niner's are so last year now, they haven't moved on, not to mention overpriced 😈

mboy - 26" wheels not man enough for you any more then?

just wondering what the wierdo's are up too 😯

robdeanhove - look at the size of me

i know what you mean, i'm just shy of 6'4" and make my 26" wheeler look like a bmx bike 😕

anyway, liking those turners but come on there's got to be more or is this a proper "niche" market. and rOcKeTdOg, [stops short of making derogatory comment] what on earth is that 😉

Most of those are horrible looking things although the Specialized and the Tallboys prove that they can be made to look good.

Daveells - No offence but I hope I don't bump in to you in Brizzle as I think the Tall Boy is my new dream bike and I don't want any temptation to bankrupt myself for it 🙂

Sorry for the hijack. Ton is that kris holm rims? Like the strength of them but they are a heavy rim and with the added weight of 29er tyres it makes for a heavy wheel set and I just wondered what it's like pushing that weight? Do you really notice it or only after 3-4 hours for example?

Burls72

they do make for a very hefty wheelset mate.
but i have tried various other builds and these are the only ones that dont flex like hell with my weight/size onboard.

any very strong wheelbuild idea's anyone??

Giant will do an Anthem 29er, if you'd been watching the Sea Otter news:

rOcKeTdOg - yea but them Giants are awful

wierdo 😆

that's it then, if they're bringing out an anthem 29er i'll just wait a bit longer for a trance x 29er. sorted 🙂

Spoke to the Scott guys at my lbs's demo day having tried a Spark, said it was a shame they don't do it in a 29er and was told to "watch this space" 😉 😯

unapologetically bumped back to the front in case any sunday surfers want to add something.

just looked through some back issues of wmb, they tested a salsa big mama a few months back, in the write up they claim that 100mm of travel on a 29er feels like 120mm on a 26er, anyone agree or disagree with that?
