Finally finished my Hemlock build last Thursday ๐Ÿ˜€

Sunday took it to Cannock for a shake down and dial-in ride 8)

It's even better than I had hoped; I've got a Soul which is pretty awsome, but this is a totally different beast - looking forward to my tour of Wales in a couple of weeks ๐Ÿ˜›

Mine is a 2009 model with the new chainstay and seatstays. Here it is with long rockers in the alps.

Showerman has my old one. I preferred it with the 120mm rockers, so just goes to show, errr, something.

120mm rockers with some 150mm Revs, got a pair of Wotan forks that I'm getting very tempted to fit on it.

Looking a bit tired after an uplift day in the pyrenees

[IMG] [/IMG]

Halfway up Aonach Mor

[IMG] [/IMG]

Just killing time with little brother

I love this thing, I'm a fanboy obviously but it's not too heavy, yet very capable, but it'll still pedal if it wants. In one weekend did the fort william downhill then the next day did an XC ride on the west highland way, didn't feel like the wrong bike for either. Just going to experiment with a Works Components headangle slackener thing to see how that works out.

Got mine last November - started off like this;

Then I got the chance of some Lyrics ๐Ÿ˜€

Still thinking about getting a Hemlock as a do-everything bike. Are they quite lardy though? Hoping to keep it around 28lb

Mine does not feel too heavy at all. No idea what my Hemlock weighs tho. Think the frame with shock is 6.7lb. Can easily and have ridden all day on it. Although need the propedal with the longer rockers but don't touch it(apart from fireroad climbs) with the short travel rockers. 28lb should be possible I think.

As first built - got different forks (140mm Revelations) and rear tyre at the moment. Even with those 55ATAs on I was running it at about 140mm front, with the 120mm rocker at the back. It's a lardy-ish build (heavy-ish forks, wheels and other bits). Wouldn't take much effort to build one easily below 30lbs.

I weighed my medium one with white paint and it was 6.75 pounds on the kitchen scales. That's with shock and seat clamp. 28 pounds should be quite easy without even going super bling.

I'll weigh mine tonight ๐Ÿ˜‰

Not sure what it'll come up at, but was really very impressed with how quick it was and climbing really was superb, no bob with the short rocker. I expect if you stood up you'll get some bobbing.

What's tyre clearance like with the new thicker chainstays? They look very chunky, is there much room for some big rubber in there?

Nah, the frame's not superlight but it's not a deadweight either, mine was sub 7lbs with the shock which is competitive for what it's capable of. Mine comes in sub 29lbs even with pretty solid kit, big tyres and a gravity dropper on. Though it's about to have some Lyriks so that's going to change... If you stick something like a 150mm Revelation in the front and some lightish but strong rims, that's half the job done.

Cheers chaps. Sounds like 28lb is achievable still with some solid components. The frame weight is comparable to a Turner 5-Spot and not much more than the 6.0lb Flux I have now.

I really like the look of the Hemlock, but then it looks like my Turner, which in my opinion is the best looking full sus out there..

With my Hemlock, I like to use it for Trail and a bit of DH. Rather than
swapping forks, I opted for two wheel sets. One heavy DH/Enduro set with DH
tyres and I really light pair with single ply. Much less trouble than switching
forks over to save pounds. Or if you did both forks and wheels, you could switch from
Mini DH bike to XC bike......

The missus has one. Still not entirely sure why I don't. Pretty much every time I ride it I end up with a grin on my face. The only 2 reasons I can come up with are that a)I like having one MTB (out of 4) that's NOT a Cotic, and b) neither of us want matching his'n'hers bikes...

I think the early ones were slightly flawed, but the latest variants are truly good bikes. Sensibly light, sensibly tough, more than stiff enough, versatile, and typical Cotic handling.

Hers is around 28,29lb with 2010 Revs, Hope M4s, XT/XO mix and sensible "good but not silly light" finishing kit. I think my BFe is actually heavier...

Hi Jon. I think I rode your other half's Hemlock at Peaslake a few years ago when you
kindly sorted out a test ride for me. Well, your efforts were not in vain as my hemlock picture above has been a fantastic bike! It has coped with Freeriding in Finale Ligure, DH in the UK and Mega this year. Not a single issue. It just keeps on going. A big pair of forks on the front really make it a good trail hammer!

Thanks Richard
