This a CAAD2 (T700, bought in 1996).

Photos don't do it justice, gorgeous looking bike, which means I actually feel obliged to clean it, unlike any other bike I've ever owned.

The frame's a real keeper so I'll treat it to the kit it deserves over time, next up is a short cage ultegra mech (hopefully the 6600 Ice one, before Shimano uglified them) and eventually some nice wheels (£5-600 mark, possibly the Dura Ace Scandiums).

The moots came off the MTB as it had a bend in it, so I chopped it down and think it suits the bike perfectly, the Carbon stem was just a sale item in the size I needed.

Edit: Definitely fancy a Cannondale tourer as well...

Niice, I like that, get the saddle flattened out though, and get some Lezyne bottle cages to match the beefcake downtube.

Wish mine had Campag on it, but I doubt Cannondales will ever earn true euro-racer status so the shimano can stay...

naah - the caad9 is painted yellow and used as the mavic service bike - can't get more euro than that

those liquigas colour 9s are cool as... a pair of unbranded 50mm carbon rims would look the bomb and it'd go like stink too

I know "what £1000 road bike on cycle to work" has been done to death, but someone guide me towards a [s]review[/s] excuse to get a CAAD8 105 rather than a Boardman or Cube. Lovely looking machine.

I was in same boat and decided to go second hand and finance myself. Nothing new at the £1000 mark really excited me.

Having said that I think if you look around you can find CAAD9's for £1000 - old stock - try Pauls Cycles.

When I was researching it seems the CAAD9 is a decent frame and a keeper and highly rated. Not sure how the CAAD8/10 are different.

My Caad8 R1000. Excuse the lack of shininess, I've been using it for commuting and I'm not a big cleaning freak.
