Considering buying one of the Boradman range mountain bikes. Any year will do.

Thanks in advance.

Also thoughts on them would also be appreciated.

Boardman Pro in Skye... It does the job beautifully now it has a decent set of pedals and a tiny-wee stem. It'll never be a 'pretty' bike though - the gun-metal paintjob and yellow graphics are hideous 🙁 I haven't looked at this years crop but assume the paintjob is better.

Nice one pal, they were my thoughts. I am more bothered about performance and value for money.

Here's my 2011 Pro. Fab value for money. Was going down the Cotic Soul route and when searching for a fork hit on this. 120mm Rebas, 2*10, BB30, tapered headtube, Elixir R, 25lb. That said, ive only ridden 3 times and am still trying to get it set up right so don't want to gush about its performance yet.

Basil-were all the parts compatible? I had thought about swapping the parts over. Anyone else done that with another frame?

2011 has tapered fork, so i dont think compatible unless HT big enough - xx44?

My Team FS is up for sale 😉

Nothing to do with the way it rides, I'm just faster and more at home with my steel HT. Would definitely get another just not one that I'd use for the same things as the HT.

Right here's mine....

It's a 2010 Limited Edition (they only made 500).

It's the second one I've owned & I've been very pleased with both.

It suits where alot of my riding is (Kent - some singletrack, some fireroad, some road but nothing too technical) & the only changes I've needed to make were saddle, stem & bars (all personal preference - the CBoardman saddles are not comfortable)

Performance wise...

The 2010 Team frame is 1.7kg so you make a reasonably light bike. I have a Fox F120 fork, cheapish WTB wheels with DT hubs, Ceramic BB, Deore brakes, 1x9 XT/SLX drivetrain, Easton finishing kit and a spoon saddle.

Good: With neutral handling, it's quite flexible which means it's comfy for long rides and singletrack but not ideal for rough/rocky or DH trails - you get away with it.

Bad: Cabling goes under the BB which I don't like. Tyre clearance at the chainstay is OK but not great.

Here's mine - set up in racer mode with light wheels. They fly, handle really nicely. really impressed with it. Picked up the frame off ebay for £150 inc. headset. bargain for what they are!

stanboardman - how do you like the new model? I have the 2010 FS Pro and love it - I like the frame on the newer one but not the graphics - a bit too lairy for me.

I bought the 2010 HT pro when they were selling them off with the view to it being a donor bike but I can't really see the point in changing anything on it now I've had it a few months. The exception being the saddle which is I think everyone will agree just about the worst ever put on a bike. I run mine 1 x 9 and love it as a fast cross country bike.

I've decided to put the money I would have spent on a new frame and upgrades towards getting a road bike, probably another Boardman, as I think I'd get far more out of 2 very different bikes for different things than I would out of just making what I've got a little bit better.
