Trying to get a comfortable angle for it and position relative to the brake lever. Just doesn't feel right at the moment.

mines on mary bars - rotated so far round the bar ( window away) that I can hardly see the window

I found the paddles being the 'wrong' way round a bigger issue than positioning the shifter on the bars, but will try to remember to take a photo of mine on the way to work tomorrow morning and post it up.

I wonder. Are the Alfine hubs compatible with Shimano's DCLs ?.

Or is my thinking too "joined up" for a company such as Shimano ?.

not compatible. they only work with Alfine trigger shifter, nexus twist shift and the jtek bar end shifter

ah, I didn't know about them. I also know a guy running one on a thumb shifter with a travel converter

@ChunkyMTB Thanks! Hadn't thought of mounting it like that!

@bobbyspangles How hard is it to remove the window?

I have big hands so the setup works for me.

Fits quite neatly with deore levers, although I probably would have preferred to have the brake lever inboard of the shifter. Didn't fancy taking a hacksaw to a new bit of kit though. However, I did do that with an old deore derailleur shifter and it was fine.

Also had my first alfine puncture this morning and I'm pleased to report it wasn't too much faff at all. Having said that I was running a mechtug arrangement before the hub gear and that was a total nightmare to sort out flats.

You just unscrew it on the one I've got.

I did wonder but I once did that on another shifter and the whole thing fell apart. wasn't too keen to try it again

Wanted the brake lever further inboard of the shifter, so I took a hacksaw to mine...
