[#3558110]

Right, had every intention of starting my new year cycling in style and riding to work and back tomorrow. I live in south Leeds and work in that there Harrogate. The 43 miles don't worry me too much....however there is going to be a frost, on friday the 13th.

So STW do I MTFU and do my normal 40mph down Harewood bank at 0720 in the morning, or do I have an extra hour in bed and use the risk of crashing my road bike on black ice as a reason for delay in me starting my commute habit again?

Encouragment or caution welcome.

I had three punctures on the way to work today. Used both my spare tubes, and had to call my wife to get me because a) I was miles from either home or work, and b) I wanted to sob into her bosom.

I don't do that sort of distance but regularly commute between 3.00 am and 5.30 am. The joys of shift work.

So yes, MTFU ๐Ÿ™‚

Hell yeah, ride in! I'm on the bike at 6:15 every morning but only for eight miles. Twelve on the way back though.

For added excitment, spill some salt before you leave, walk under a ladder, break a mirror and tweak the nipples of superstition.

walk under a ladder, break a mirror

If I get knocked of by a window cleaners van and take his wing mirror out I could do both these together.

Its the road through Wike that scares me for ice.

Do it! ๐Ÿ˜€

Is it a hilly 22 miles there? (been to Yorkshire exactly twice, and both times were on the train. ๐Ÿ˜ณ )

Nah! I grew up in Seacroft, its my terroir.
Besides I always carry a couple of chicken nuggets and a half smoked Lambert and Butler to distract the local 9 year olds if they look excessively feral.
Any how...dole day was tuesday so older ones wont be up.

How long did it take you? I live in Harrogate but work in Skipton and considering trying it by bike.

Think I'll get a 72 mile round trip commute in tomorrow as long as its not too icy at 7 when I leave. Nobody else in so I can be flexible with my hrs.

Liberator placement puzzle, why not over the stem and centred?

Just done my 16 miles. Left about 5:40. Bit frosty but nothing too slippy.

Made it.
446m acent and 390m decent.
Took 30 mins longer than my best summer times (a vaguely embarrasing 1h45...but I always pootle into work otherwise I am knackered for a the day).

Liberator placement is so the power lead doesn't get in the way of the Garmin.

Return leg this evening!

36 miles done here - was very nice - cool but not too slippy at all.

Trail rat, the liberator clamp is asymmetric so it fits over the stem ( perfect for the OCD rider) ๐Ÿ™‚

Fair play mate, 22 miles in the morning would kill me (and take me ages)

Did my little 7 miles this morning, with a hangover, and a puncture on the way in. It just makes that first cup of coffee taste better ๐Ÿ˜€

Well done for doing it.

A gorgeous morning - perfect for commuting IMHO - no wind or rain.

Just a tad cold on my idex fingers. Everything else was good.

Yep, lovely morning for a ride to work, makes a change from all the rain over the last few weeks.
Rode to work on the road (6 miles) and then came home at lunchtime the long way round, over the moors and through the woods (9 miles). 8)

I can't say I would fancy that return journey at rush hour!
