Ordered a POC Trabec from cycle surgery, it was quite cheap (for this helmet):

This one: http://www.cyclesurgery.com/pws/UniqueProductKey.ice?ProductID=CPOC0023K1

Which is supposed to look like this:

What I got was this

Has anyone else got the Black/Grey POC Trabec helmet? is the grey bit actually grey? and why doesn't mine have the orange bits inside?

I checked inside and it says manufactured 2012, quarter 1. So its fairly old. Is this an acceptable age for a "new" helmet as some of you say you need to replace them every 3-5 years?

Me being fussy or not? clearly doesnt look like the picture advertise though?

The one at the top looks like a CGI version not an actual picture.

First image looks like a computer rendering.

Click on the second pic on the link above. It shows the pic like yours but then the pic with him wearing it is the same as what you received.

Orange bits look like pads to me too.

They only seem to have limited sizes at that price. What size did you get?
If XXL, you're probably over-thinking things.
If XS, I can see understand you're confused.

So if it is what it is supposed to look like what about the age?

If it was made January 12 it could be 18 months old already?

Meh, it's a good deal anyway, just liked the look of the two tone black/grey. Doesn't look much different to my giro hex it is replacing now.

I think the orange is the MPIS.

I wouldn't worry about the age if it's not been used. Sweat, UV, solvents and knocks are the things that affect helmet life

The orange is the padding. Double check that you've got the correct version though, because there are different finishes at various price points. Other than that I prefer the black to the black and grey. I've got the white and orange version. Everyone seems to have a POC these days!

If it fits, is comfortable and you like it then keep it.
I do quite like those POC helmets. Also been looking at the Scott Lin MIPS helmet.

The black/grey was never actually grey, just black so what you have is the only way you'll get it.

As for the padding, the orange pad only comes on the top end MIPS version.

As for the manufacture date, its nothing to worry about. Brand new models turning up had a 9-12 month old date on them.
