not done shimanos before and couldnt find a step by step on their site. any hints and tips/ links/ step by step would be great.

stanley knife to cut, new olive and insert to fit, push pads most of the way into the caliper so once cut you can squeeze them further in and same with lever to ensure no air present when re-attaching.

simples.

I used the exploded diagram. I cut it, then reattached it. I filled the reservoir and pumped and they've been fine since, no need to bleed. Just keep the hose end high so no bubbles go down the hose.

I've got this to do on my new build, and frankly it scares me a bit, not sure why. Maybe LBS for me...

cheers all, so ill need some mineral oil to top the system up then? just checking cos ive always used hopes and you can do it without losing any

I got away without topping up my SLX ones. Did use new olive and insert though. The tricky bit was getting the new insert in without displacing too much oil.
