in the new mag (the cannondale 29er review) it says (under the picture) short head tube allows full size bars (or something similar)

whats all that about?

Writing too it seems ๐Ÿ˜‰

Short head tubes are lighter, can be stiffer and rather obviously can keep overall stack height (thus bar height) low - sometimes a problem with the stupidly long forks people feel they need to mince around with these days..
One disadvantage is if you actually need higher bars you may need to have rather a lot of stererer sticking out above (which is clearly weaker and uglier)

Magazines are full of shite information and typos just look at the pretty pictures and buy some books to help with your reading ๐Ÿ˜‰

29ers are known for having high front ends. when i swapped from inbred 26 to scandal 29 the seat stayed at about the same height but the bars came up by about an inch.

short headtubes on 29ers help alleviate this. lots of 29ers have flat bars for this reason.

Why would a short person choose to ride a 29er ๐Ÿ˜•

I blame magazines (and their forums) ๐Ÿ˜‰
