[#4886726]

My mate dropped out of riding tonight and I ummed and aahed for a bit about going out on my tod - I'd lost the motivation. But I figured I'd feel better once I was out and surprise surprise I've had one of the best little rides of my year so far.

Super short, all within a mile radius of my house, but linking up all the little cut throughs and runs I've spotted but never ridden as normally I've been heading somewhere else.

Starting with the normal warm up flight of steps out to the hill and across the park I was treated to a golden red sunset - wouldn't have seen that had I not gone out.

I fancied a go at a big flight of steps I'd seen so had a play (one hairy close to otb moment) before looping back up a handy climb I'd never noticed before and heading past home and out the other way to a tiny snicket podge of these parts had suggested - down some more steps then a light speed run between high walls on cobbles hidden away in student surburbia - imagine the canyon run from star wars but with more carling cans.

Then there was a lung busting climb back up the hill, but not before I spotted an urban fox heading out for the night - he paused and leapt up over a wall and away.

Back up the hill then, to home with a clean bike, sweaty brow, moonlit evening and a big smile on my face.

Here's to short rides and just getting out!

edit: unintentionally ironic long post ;o)

I went to Llandegla today, got lost on the way, almost ran out of fuel then had an absolute ball all the way round, the climbs didn't even feel hard. You missed out on Saturday btw, HTN was awesome. Any sign of MiniPook yet?

Sounds fun. Enjoy it while you can!

Injury limits me to about 45 mins of riding before my hand goes numb at the minute. Got something short but stupid planned for about an hours time...

Nope, still haven't got those quite right. Seats keep breaking off which leaves you spiralling down the street on a broken piece of plastic.

Good stuff. I have a nigh on 20m run straight from the door, mostly bridleway, but Google Earth helped me link it all up. Best in summer, as its quite boggy in Winter.

Gorgeous day up Cannock Chase with the kids today, seen a few lucky folk heading off on the FtD. Trails riding lovely right now.

Nice.
It's what mtbing is all about. Just ride when you can, for however long and where ever (legal of course).

Was wondering about mini pook too.

Ah now, it maybe wasn't quite as legal as it could have been.....but it's a civil not criminal offence riding on a footpath is it not?

Having said that, the footpath in question isn't actually a footpath - it's just a ginnel between the backs of two rows of houses.....
