Morning all,
A question for the STW masses if I may?
I've ridden with clips for a little while on and off, however recently I've taken to them more and more. Unfortunately I have been sitting on the fence for so long that my 661 filters are dying a death. Torn out heel cup is the last straw, I guess they never did fit too well.
So my question, what to get to replace the filters? Not more filters that’s for sure. They're too heavy for my liking, I always seemed to get cold feet as I had to lace them so tightly and I never found them very comfy for much the same reason. I like the idea of the velcro/rachet strap style shoes that I see about, however I’m not sure if I'm ready for the plunge into full on xc disco slippers. Is there a middle ground in the shoe arena? I will be using them for riding trails, local woody ones, welsh waymarked ones, longer natural ones.. anything but downhill tracks really, for them I prefer messing about on flats. So I think stiff, but comfy but with some sort of clout protection would be nice.
Or to put it a slightly different way:
I currently have these:

I commute in these:

Is there anything that fits in the gap between them?
I’ve spied out some potential candidates:

I’m sure there’s loads more
Any help/experience/opinions will be appreciated before I throw myself at the mercy of a yoof in the local bike shop and/or destroy my credit card online (and then send loads back).
