Moving from coil forks to air so will need to get a shock pump. Any recommendations?
I don't want to break the bank so something sensibly priced but functional will be great.
thanks

I've got two brand new shock pumps for sale. £11 each. One marked as Bike Hut, the other unbranded. Both perfect condition.
Actually, I'm supposed to be doing some pictures for some people about them.
Shout over if you'd like a picture as well

I've got a Magura one that has a lever you flip to depress the centre core once the pump valve has been screwed on then flipped back off for removal. save loosing any air at all.

Beto- cheap and excellent.

Carlosg, any shock pump that allows air to escape the shock isn't fit for purpose, what you describe is standard- not always by that method though.

I have two in the garage at home. If your are going to Mountain Mayhem you can have one for a donation of your choice to Team Bullheart.

If you can cover postage I will post it to you. Just email me a donation receipt

Get the cheapest one you can find, as the novelty of adjusting the pressure before every ride will soon wear off, and it'll become a once-in-a-while check thing...

It's more than twice the price I paid for it though (Cotic on fleabay)

The Magura one that carlosg describes is awesome, and it is better than the generic shock pumps. You still lose a whisper of air when unscrewing a normal one. Closing the lever on this type avoids this.

The Magura and Topeak pumps had a provision on the pump chuck to minimize air loss at the Schraeder valve when removing the pump. We think that this is a great idea

You really don't- the valve gets closed before the seal's broken, on any shock pump that deserves the name. The air release you hear is the pump depressurising.

I seem to lose a fair bit when unscrewing the connector and then have to try and compensate with adding extra to allow for it. Bit of a faff really.

Might have a look at the magura or the like.

What pump do you have?

What often causes confusion is that when you close the valve by whatever means, the pump stays at the same 100psi or whatever as the air spring, so when you remove the pump, you hear that air escape. So then you think, "some air escaped" and reconnect the pump, and when you check the gauge the pressure's lower so it must have leaked right? But this can be the fact that the pressure from the air spring has to repressurise the pump.

But, some shock pumps are just crap.

Oh right, I dont know then. I've got one of the generic pumps where the hose swivels, like the one in monksie's post above

Unfortunately I can't use my topeak gauge tool thingy to check as the linkage plates get in the way 🙂 🙄

I've just ordered one of the beto pumps to see if any better, so will see if that's any different.
