Hi all, I hope someone can help..
my mondraker foxy has developed some rear end play when I hold it by the frame and pull up. I have tightened the bolts so assume it is something to do with the shock mounting.
The question is.. can I get away with replacing the bushings or will I need to buy two new mount kits? Any advice much appreciated.
You should normally just have to replace the bushings, you will need a tool to do this though.
Are you sure the play is in the shock and not your frame pivot bearings?
Eyelet/Du bushes first, then spacers (top hat or pins) if they're worn.
Check all the bolts and bearings in the rear end 😉

LoCo, how do I know what type of bushes to get?!! TFtuned say my shock (ario RL) and frame = 12.7mm bushings, will these fit? What are top hats? Help?!

You need a tool to remove the bushing although I have done this using a pair of sockets and a vice. One socket the same or slightly smaller that the bushing to push it out and another larger socket to push it into and stop the vice holding it in place. With the right tools its a pretty straightforward job.
You can get bushing tools on ebay for about a tenner.
IIRC the polymer bushings are supposed to be longer lasting then the metal ones.
In my experience of this, regardless which type of bush you fit it will eventually fail again. So I fitted one of TF tuned's heavy duty mount kits and have never had any issues again. Need to do this on my latest bike as well, a true fit and forget solution.
