Has anyone done this lately?

For sending a bike to Germany I'm getting quotes of £80+ without adequate insurance so I guess it would be closer to £120 by the time I add that on. Does that seem about right, any recommendations for good value couriers?

I gave up on trying to ship my Ellsworth... Mind you it was as heavy as my car. With a lot of couriers you'll be charged for "volumetric weight", ie a big light box is expensive. So packing as compactly as possible helps a lot.

Thanks. I've based the box size in the quotes on normal bike box dimensions and tight packing.

I might have a look into sending the frame in one box and the wheels in another - maybe two smaller boxes is cheaper than a single big 'un.

I went thru parcel2go to get a bike shipped from UK to Spain, cost about 30 quid.

FWIW the box dimensions were ...

136 cm long / 76 cm high / 20.5 cm wide

Thanks for that. I've just given them a go and it comes to £53 but close to £90 insured to £650.
