No doubt there is a recent post on this, but I've tried searching and only find posts from a decade ago.

I'm in the process of trying to sell my wife's gravel bike. I have the box that her new bike came in so as and when I sell the old one I can box it up.

From old posts, Paisley Freight or Parcel2Go appear the couriers of choice. Is this still the case? The new bike arrived by UPS but they don't appear to want to collect a large bike box from  residential premises,

I'm in North Cumbria and I guess it could go anywhere in the UK.

Before I advertise it; is it possible to make an estimation on cost, so I can factor it in for a sale price.

I guess people are selling bikes all over the country, there must be an easy way of getting them from A to B.

You paid £33.99 GBP to Paisley Freight

From last month....

TBH its a pita. Loads of bollocks on google about couriering bikes but when you look at the details then it says dimensions less than x,y,z ( which a bike would never be). So I just coughed for Paisley

I’ve shipped quite a few bikes with Parcel Force.  Front wheel, forks and bars off and it usually fits in the 1.5m max dimesnions.  If not, PF Large48 is available.

Last time sent a bike booked and paid Paisley freight, on pick up day local courier refused to pick it up as it was oversize for their company and refused to take it. After many emails and as many days another courier picked it up.

Paisley Freight can **** off. Total shit, damaged a frame in transit, refused to answer the phone because of COVID (this was last year after Boris had got COVID done 🤣). I'd avoid that particular bunch of ****ers.

Paisley have been ace for me, sent a few bikes with them.

Parcels2go aren't a courier, they are a comparison site for couriers so give you various options but the price of most have gone through the roof.

Make sure that NOTHING can move in the box. If it can and it rubs against something else it will make one helluva mess!

I've used parcelforce but it was a bit of a battle to get it packed in the right dimensions. I don't use parcelmonkey or similar any more for anything of value, you can save a few quid but if there's ever any issues it adds an extra level of (terrible) communications and customer service to deal with, life's too short.

Paisley Freight are slightly cowboy. Frinstance, they're the best people to post car wheels with... But their car wheels packing rules are designed to be impractical, so nobody follows them, it's entirely to be a getout for them. And if you do manage to make a claim, they treat every wheel as an individual item so you end up with a small payout and 3 wheels. They've had some clever, cynical bastards sit down and write the rules while touching themselves I think.

Never had a problem with ParcelForce over the years - cheapest is buy online, print labels and drop-off at PF depot. For a quid more drop off at Post Office.
