I'm am far too picky and always want what I can't have - wanted Shimano brakes but had to be black, 2 pot calliper, dimpled lever and tool free reach adjust. None of the current Shimano brakes meet those criteria so made them myself.

SLX M675 for £99 from Merlin + Zee levers for £35 from Evans.

Swapped the levers and the reach adjuster.

I had searched for anyone who had swapped the reach adjuster and found no definitive answers - there were guys who had made their own and glued a knob on, but I was sure it would just be a case of unscrewing the allen bolt from the Zees and the knob from the SLX. Was a wee bit more fiddly as the allen bolts and knob have a small circlip under the lever but pretty easy to remove.

Now got the brakes I want - ZeeX 🙂

I thought shimano had decided zee and saint levers weren't compatible with 2 pot calipers as they push more fluid. Any difference felt thus far?

they look like Zee brakes with SLX levers?
I'm confused 😕

Edit: i guess the calipers are slx, lever body/res Zee, and lever blades slx

personally i would have bought zee and fitted slx blades, i like 4 pot, but i have got Saints

wysiwyg - have only tried them in the carpark so far but they feel fine so far.

wukfit - SLX calipers, Zee levers with SLX tool free reach adjuster. Zee lever blades have the drilled dimples on them, SLX don't.

wiggles - £99 + £35 = £134 (levers were £35 for the pair). 2 pot brakes will be/are plenty strong for trail riding and bit of DH, lighter and require less maintenance than 4 pot 🙂
A pair of Zee brakes would have cost £178, have 4 pot, no external adjustment and heavier.

I admit that the black lever (instead of the silver SLX) and weight difference is pure vanity / unnoticeable, but it's nice to be able to have something just the way you want it 😉 And I couldn't find anyone who had swapped the reach adjuster so posted to let anyone else searching know that it can be done easily.

I wasn't thinking that was a pair so makes more sense.
