Hi Guys and Girls,

Currently building up an Orange Five into a trail bike. I've only ever ridden DH so know very little about trail bike stuff.

I'm going to be running a single 32T ring at the front and going 10 speed 11-32 on the back, using a Shimano XT Shadow + rear mech.

Will I need a chain device? Can I get away with one of those top only ones?

Anyone done the same?

yep - 32t front hope ring, xtr shadow plus rear, e13 xcx ST top guide only.

never dropped the chain.

not once.
