I'm having a problem with my XT pedals where it feels like the cleat is moving in the pedal. It is most noticeable when I am spinning up a hill, but is always there. There is a distinct movement back and forward.
I have checked the pedals and changed the tension. I've checked the cleats are tight on the shoes, and unclipping is absolutely fine (normally worn cleats would mean too easy unclipping).
This happens on both sets of shoes (summer and winter boots).
Any ideas on how to resolve?
Shimano SPD's have a small amount of "float", your foot will move a couple of degrees without actually unclipping from the pedal - this is by design. Not sure about back and forward movement, maybe it just feels like its moving in those directions but is just the float?
I've got a set of XT pedals, and one pair of shoes do this and another set don't. So I think it probably is worn cleats after all.
