Still getting used to this e bike stuff....
What chainline for boost 50 or 53mm?
Also where to get the appropriate tool to get it off cheers.
Or can I replace the chainring without the spider?
The ones I've seen online so far are complete with spider.
Any normal 104 BCD chainring should fit, but remember the chainring goes on the outside of the spider, so do not buy one with integrated threads. Some places sell the Shimano rings on their own, I think the CR-80 is better than the 70 because it is narrow wide. Aftermarket steel rings are rare, I use a aluminium one because I wanted to drop down to 32T.
I used a cheap 2 leg puller like this for removal, although did required a small amount of grinding down to fit.

My e8000 I could change the chainring without needing to change the spider & though I can't remember what the difference was, I bought the 53mm chainline version (Vitus E-Somment 2018, boost/148mm).
An answer on CRC's Q&A for the chainring I bought, suggests "50mm will suit a bike with a rear hub spacing of 135/142mm. 53mm will suit a rear hub spacing of 148mm."
IIRC I removed the chainring without pulling the spider off the motor, just undo the chainring bolts and the sprocket can be manoeuvred off.

I bought a "Shimano SM-CRE80 Steps Chainring FC-E8000-E8050", but it was half the price it is now... maybe ask on EMTB forums for other recommendations

I changed mine to a praxis works chainring it was £30 off ebay - its just a standard 104 bcd ring. There are cheaper options for steel chainrings on ebay also. You don't need to remove the spider.

Ah yeah, I might be thinking about the Brose motor requiring the puller. Both use lockrings, but only one is tapered. Either way you don't need to remove the spider, but I do take it off occasionally to clean out the mud that gets behind.
Yeah that's an idea. Think I'll buy a lock ring tool.
Ended up getting a genuine ring from CRC for £30ish in the end.
