[#9833653]

I've got a new Genesis Tarn with a Shimano rear axle which has an indexed collar numbered 1-8. ย Can anyone tell me how it was designed to operate please? It doesnt appear to bottom out and be flipped over like a front maxle, it seems to rely on being left short of bottoming the thread and the indexing relates to the force required to close the lever as you might expect. Am I missing something?

Assuming it is the one below (SM-AX78):

- you are correct about the collar adjusting the tension

- I think you can also adjust the final position of the lever by pushing in the lever+adjuster assembly and rotating, like on a Maxle Ultimate (notice the gap between the axle and the two).

Ah, thank you. I wasn't aware of the possibilty of pushing and rotating the lever. I'll give that a look. It is the axle in the image, appreciate your input otsdr.

Now that I think about it, I am wrong - that space is just required for the normal operation of the cam.

The position of the lever is the one you decide when adjusting the tension. Sorry about that :).

If only the manufacturer produced a manual for the product.....

......which of course they do. Try google.
