Really annoyed at paying £3 an end for each shimano olive and insert every time i install i new set of brakes.
Has anyone tried buying any of the non-shimano ebay/amazon ones?
The non Shimano ones from amazon have been absolutely fine for me.
I used these and I haven't died yet:

How often do you fit new brakes?

That. I have always used the Shimano ones and have probably spent £12 in the last 10 years. I normally shorten the hoses on a new bike so the £3 an end seems good value compared to the rest of the items in my garage 😉
New Shimano brakes come with spare olive and insert.

seeing as it's good practice to change them if you get a new caliper. And this is Shimano.
So roughly every 6 months or so.
Just get the 10 pairs for £2.99 option on Ebay. I haven't used them, but just ordered a pack and will do in future.
Caliper end is a banjo connection on most of their brakes, and WTF are you doing to them that they only last 6 months?
Given that a coffee is about £3, I'm not sure I'm too fussed about the cost of olives and inserts.
Yeah - I even used fake Shimano ones on Avid brakes recently! 🤯 Although it was my dad's bike so, you know, no skin off my nose. 😁
The Chinese ones have arrived. Sorts me out for a good while 🙂
