Been on the lookout for a wheelset for my sons build for a while and after missing out on a few ebay auctions I've been looking at new.
I don't want to spend too much as he's not smashing trails week in week out but again I want something that will last a while and spotted the Shimano MT500 wheels at a decent price (front and rear for £131) so wondered if anyone had any experience with them or would I be wasting my money?
They're really good value. Cup and cone bearings in the hubs so ultra smooth but need a lot more care and attention than cartridge bearing hubs. Having said that, they're super easy to service and new loose ball bearings are dirt cheap compared to cartridge ones.
I bought one for a new build as a stopgap until I could afford something better. A year on it's still there. I keep staring at fancy wheelsets but the MT500 is more than fine
Sounds perfect then thanks!
Is Mavic Crossride from Decathlon for £160 any good for you?
