Ive got a pair of MP66 trail shoes that I use with SPD's on my HT, the bike is dual purpose commuter and weekend trail machine.
I dont feel 100% confident using the SPD's offroad so fancy a set of flat pedals for the weekend stuff, But my shoes have the cleats in and the rubber bung cut out etc.
Will they still be ok on flat pedals or should I invest in a flat specific shoe?
Jake.
They don't work. Get some
Vans or dc or Nike 6 for your flats.
So the shoe doesnt work on flats with or without the cleats? or just with...
They'll work on flats but will be a compromise depending on the shape of the flat pedal you choose. Why not just give it a try and if you're not happy with them get some skate shoes or flat pedal riding shoes.
They don't work well on flat pedals full stop. the cleat in them will make it super bad. If you have any skate shoes at all they'll give you an idea but 5 10's are the real answer.
Yep they are great with spd's - I like mine as a shoe. But after moving to flats ive started using some Nike 6 mogans. At 30 quid they were a good price to trial flats.
I think I will get the shimano shoes resoled with a 5 10 sole now ive decided to stay on flats. I think a company do the 5 10 resole for only £30.
