I have XT 8120 4 pot disc brakes on my FS and would like to replace the front hose. The ones that are on it from new look like short black banjo ones. Online replacements seem to have silver long banjo ? not fussed at colour, presume banjo length doesn't matter going short to long ?

They all work as long as you use your existing banjo bolt as some come with the longer banjo bolt for older 2 pots, some come with the shorter button headed bolt from Saint/Zee, some come with no banjo bolt.
Long banjo is intended to help lose heat from the system. Doubt anyone notices though.
Stock replacement is part no SMBH90MllF and is in stock with supplier. Any shop with an account can order it on it's own with no carriage penalty.
