Will a 10 speed shadow+ mech work with a 10 speed chain on 9 speed cogs?
I'd like to check before I go all heath robinson on one of my builds :O)

No. To run 9sp with that mech you'll need 9sp cassette, chain and SRAM shifter along with a 6mm spacer at the cable clamp to bodge the leverage

Blast, no clutch then.
Can't go Sram. It's wrong in my world.
