[#9847863]

I have noise coming from my rear wheel when the wheel is rotating pedaling or not... I reckon it could be my freehub, it's nearly 2 years old and I'm now running a 1x11 drivetrain on what was a 3x9.

My hub is a Shimano RM35 hub and want to replace with a Deore m510 -525...are Shimano freehubs generally compatible??

The m510 one has a different part number to the rm35. But it is often possible to fit the wrong Shimano hub body to there hubs.

But I can’t tell you if what you want will fit

RM type freehubs have their own type of fitting, and won't be compatible with any of the other Shimano types.

That’s what I thought coatesy but the parts diagrams show the same fitting for both types rather than what I was expecting for a rm hub

And

Totally off-topic, love how the bike manual is hosted on the fishing implements domain.

When my old rm66 freehub needed replacing it was cheaper for me to get a whole new hub and take the freehub off. I was having a nightmare tracking down the freehub and it was about £20 iirc but i was not 100% it was the right one, then CRC had the whole hub incl skewer for a tenner....

Yep, they look similar in those diagrams, but the ones we've had in the workshop are definitely different, with no chance of interchangeability.Edit; check the rm35 freehub body pics on SJS Cycles site as a comparison, much clearer than the diagrams on techdocs.

Think complete hubs are "new old stock" only now, nothing available from Madison any more, and freehub bodies are out of stock there until late March.

This is what I was expecting a rm hub to be like

Guess you will have to have it apart and see

If you look on ebay there is a seller (adaptor man, but he is out of stock)  who lists the rm35 along with the rm3500 which is a sora hub so these may use same parts....but i really am no expert, and why i ended up getting a new hub.

Have you googled Y3TE98040 and 3TE 9804 ?

or

Y3TE98050 and  3TE 9805

(double check the part no.s)

I would strip the hub before ordering anything in case the hub shell cup is pitted or you need cones etc.
