Out of interest... does anyone know what the difference is between the F & J type brake pads ?

They both say that they're suitable for my brakes IE BR M785 and I've only ever had the F type before (I think)...

It would be these or these !

Just curious.

something to do with the way the friction material is adhered to the backing plate by the look of it?

Backing plate material.

I thought 1st looked like steel and 2nd aluminium but one link I saw said 2nd was stainless.

Just saw that reply below which is what I first thought I think.

There should be a titanium version as well I think.

changed my mind looking at better photos. Think the F are aluminium and J (with lightening holes) are stainless.

Some other images show the F version with a one piece aluminium fin and backing plate.

Who knows!

If you already have the F type then see if you can tell.

Well, lesson learnt for today. Thanks very much.

Now, is it scones, pronounced sc-o-nes as in 'bones', or is scones, pronounced sc-ons as in 'songs' ?

Scones/bones for me every time !
