Shimano Dyna Sys 10 Speed setup is now available from Jensen USA spot on for you early adopters and prices seem good. Personally I am waiting to see XTR and hope has 2 rings not 3 which Is my only problem with the shimano 10 speed at the moment.

SO when the inevitable happens (unless they make a 36t 9sp cassette) and I end up buying 10sp, do existing freehubs, mechs work with it (assuming new shifters, of course) or is it all new standards ?
Merlin had it a couple of weeks ago, bit behind the times aren't you!?
They do a 12-36 9 speed cassette, no implications there'll be a 9 speed 11-36 though.
Existing freehubs work, mechs don't allegedly, it's a new cable pull ratio.
So you need new mech, shifters, cassette and chain, and chainrings would be ideal.
The ratios on the XTR 2x10 look a bit gay to me, SRAM have done a better job with the wider ratios IMO.
njee, have you got post-count targets to meet or something?
you're on every thread ๐
njee, who makes a 12-36 ?
its some deore lump
Scaredy pants- Shimano Deore do a 36T 9 speed. You MUST have a shadow mech to work with it.
The 12-36 9 speed is a Deore HG61 cassette aimed at 29'ers but has been used for 1x9 and 2x9 set ups on 26" wheels too.

I'm exceptionally bored!
do you have to be careful using deore on hope freehubs?
It's not really a case of being careful, it will eat the freehub. As long as you don't mind removing it with a hammer it's fine!
(may well have been posted while I was on holiday - soz)
