I'm looking to put a bike together with some bits I've got in the garage.
Would a 12 speed Shimano chainring work with a SRAM Eagle chain?

I think the 12 speed Shimano chainrings don’t play very nicely with other makes of chain - unless it’s the other way round and Shimano chains don’t play nicely with other makes of chainring 🤔

Nop your right - done loads of mixing and matching for decades but with a 12 speed shimano chainring, you need a 12 speed shimano chain.
It just doesnt work very well without.

In which case I’d sack off the stupid Shimano chainring and use your sram eagle chain as long as it’s a decent one.
