Are they all the same going back to M970? I need to shorten the hoses - at the lever end.
theres 2 different inserts, but the olives are the same,different bore hoses, 2.1 and 2.3mm
But the new inserts fit both hoses
I could be wrong, I could be right

Isn't the 970 a v-brake?
Olives are the same, but there are two insert sizes - brass ones for 2.3mm bore BH59 hoses and silver ones for 2.1mm bore BH90 hoses.
M975 used BH59 from stock, but worth checking that’s what is on there now as the hose determines the insert type needed.
I can probably re-use the inserts tho no?
I had to replace one caliper with a new XT one where the hose has a crimped-on end. So they are probably both different eh.
You can get them out and re-use the insert, but it’s a PITA!
Slit open the hose with a sharp Stanley knife if you really want to get the old insert out to reuse. Even I, a cheap skate and environmentalist, didn't bother 🙂
