What should I look for in my local car spares shop?

i put 3 in 1 oil in my rear deore brake about 5 years ago, and . . . it still works fine.
although it has worn some pads out in that time.
no idea what the recommended spec is tho.

Some people would just go to a bike shop and buy the Shimano stuff.

+1, it's about £12 a litre from CRC, £5 more than halfords LHM oil, but you'll never get through a bottle in a lifetime of bleeding.

Halford LHM fluid is perfect. 1 ltr for around £8.
Used it on numerous sets of brakes that I've serviced over that last 8 years or so and no one has died from brake failure yet.
