Shimano brake bleed help

I'm really struggling to get a good bleed on a Shimano Ultegra brake on my road bike. I've followed their instructions, and various video tutorials, and I can get a solid lever feel at the bars - which lasts for about a fortnight.

It then goes back to being mushy, and if I screw the bleed funnel into the bleed port and pump the lever, bubbles come out. The hose connection on the calliper is tight with no evidence of leakage, as is the bleed screw. Pads and pistons appear clean and uncontaminated, and there's no obvious fluid loss.

Is it possible that I'm just not bleeding them properly and there's more air to come out?

Yes. Moving the caliper around during bleeding can help dislodge stubborn air bubbles sometimes.

I tap gently around calliper/hose to try to encourage the air bubbles out, sort of in the air flow direction if you see what I mean

Tie wrap the brake lever to the bars overnight? It’s worked on motorbikes for me 🙂
